Estee Lauder has appointed group president Dan Brestle as chief operating officer, effective Jan. 1.He replaces William P. Lauder, who left the post to become president and chief executive officer in July.Mr. Brestle will oversee global operations, research and development for Estee Lauder, M.A.C and the Prescriptives, Jo Malone, La Mer and Kate Spade Beauty brands.
